So how does an unfunded mandate relate to the presidential election?

Presidential nominee Barack Obama, like many of the past Democratic candidates, wishes to infuse and implement a new social plan, along with a slight military and diplomatic plan. In my opinion, Obama has bit off more than he can chew.

Obama would like to pursue many social reforms. But our nation is not ready for this. While an honorable goal, Americans are even now tightening their wallet and complaining of high gas prices. Is America really able to give over more and more money to a society already in a recession? I just don't think this is going to work.

If Obama becomes president, he will be setting and falling into his own trap: an unfunded mandate. He will work to pass into law social reforms, but will not be able to secure for America the resources to fulfill these reforms. That which makes our economy run (oil) is even now the reason for a new cold war between the United States and upcoming superpowers (North Korea, Iran, Russia, and China).

What is an Unfunded Mandate?

By definition, an unfunded mandate is a government mandate that requires a state and/or local government to fulfill something, yet provides no funding to complete the requirements.
